David and Nancy Kessler are the owners of Small Paws petite Boarding. They looked for over 8 years to find the "perfect" facility. Their patience brought them Small Paws.. Nancy designed the Small Paws logo which has thirty-three paw prints chasing a heart; the thirty-three prints represent the thirty-three boarding facilities they looked at prior to finding their doggie hotel in Lenoir City.

Wedding of David and Nancy, with Ophelia (Ophie) and Samantha (Sam).1988
David picked up puppy Sam on St. Patricks Day 1977.
Ophie was thrown out of a car at the age of 5 weeks and named Ophie two weeks later.
If Sam were an actress, she would be Lauren Bacall. She was a diva with elegance.
Little Ophie was the gentlest, sweetest little girl ever.

Christmas Parade 2000 in High Springs Florida. David and Nancy with Bodacious and Bubba Howard. Bubba came to us in Nov. 1999 from Suncoast Basset Rescue as "Howard" His full name was Bubba Howard Drysedale Kessler, as he positioned himself in the chair just as a banker would (when interviewing a loan applicant). Bodacious was born in Dec. of 1999 and is wearing Bubba's hand-me-down millenium New Year's Eve costume. Remember when there was so much concern about being Y2K READY? Bubba had a champagne glass and a balloon that said he was Y-K9 READY!!!
Both dogs loved the little time they had in Tennessee. They are playing hard now in heaven.
...yes, we have gained a pound a year....

2009. The Kesslers have fostered over a dozen bassets with Belly Rubs Basset Rescue. Here they are saying good-bye to Maggie before she gets in the transport to her new home.
She now lounges by the pool with a pediatrician, a photographer, and a human sister in North Carolina.
"...with my Bubba. Forever in our hearts."
